Lives and works in Phillipines
Drawing & Painting
Grounded firmly in the practice of drawing, Jem’s work explores the nature of place; one's relationship to their place of origin; and of the structures—organic and artificial—that shape society.
Composing landscapes under concepts of ‘motion’: cyclic movements of nature / navigation of space by the body and mind, Jem creates images of the liminal spaces converging the physical and mental.
Jem received her BA (Hons) Fine Arts from the LASALLE College of Arts, Singapore (in partnership with Goldsmiths’ College, University of London). She has collaborated with brands such as Hermès, participated in three artist residencies in Japan, and has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in the Philippines, the United States, Taiwan, Japan, and Singapore.
